The I-HOUSE LAGOS TOUR

So about the IHOUSE Lagos tour, it all began from a discussion in one of our in-house meetings on the 7th of February 2018. We were all chilling at the office and with the need to get everyone set to work in my absence as I was set for a two-week trip to Lagos. I was like “I will be going to Lagos for 2weeks” and a member of #ihouse said to me jokingly “Ma can I go with you? I have never been to Lagos and it would be nice to go with you so I ‘ll use that opportunity to showcase myself in Lagos”. And wow! I thought to myself “why don’t I use this opportunity to put a smile on these young talented people’s faces?”
Then I announced to the crew, that 5people should be selected to go to Lagos with me. But, they should all be those who haven’t been to Lagos before in their entire life, and to my biggest surprise, Metaphorically “I just shot myself in the leg” but for the right reasons as I figured first, that there was a problem, because everybody wanted to be on the trip list, in addition to that, almost everyone hasn’t been to Lagos before. Wow this was hard to believe but true so we started doing a lot of selecting and re-selecting, giving reasons why some couldn’t go since a major percentage of them are University students but at the end of the day 13 extraordinary talents were selected for the Lagos media tour. Most importantly, they were chosen to see how our Contemporaries in the media entertainment business, practically work in Lagos. For me, exposing them to the Lagos entertainment industry was going to be a wonderful and great experience for both the ihouse crew, and the management of #PHEV

– We got into Lagos on Thursday, the 15th of February, 2018, and later that same night the #ihouse crew performed at BOGOBIRI to a wonderful and Overwhelming crowd who were wowed and super excited by the performances of these young talents.

– On the 18th of February the crew visited Badagry. Taking them to the roots of history and opening their eyes to the pains and sojourn of most of our forefathers. The idea for this visit was to give them a glimpse of what our forefathers went through, as a means to teach and show them humility.

– The crew on the 19th of February 2018 paid a courtesy visit to Linda Ikeji media house (Linda Ikeji TV). And 20th of February 2018, Pulse TV was visited. It was a great privilege for the Veteran Nollywood actor Segun Arinze (the black arrow). The crew later performed at the Slay karaoke house.

We visited individual Artistes, and its at this very point that I would love to specially appreciate Timaya , Igodie, 2baba (his Management, endless appreciation to Mr Efe), Mr toomuch my brother, Mtril my selfless brother/friend and others for their warm reception at short notice. God bless you guys abundantly.

One of the high point of this amazing tour, was about just 4days in Lagos, they (the #IHouse crew) got an extra ordinary deal that would make some of them move to Lagos as soon as possible, and when a friend, Mr Okpalefe offered us his beech house to stay. Honestly, it wasn’t easy to leave Lagos after 2weeks as they were becoming so acquainted to Lagos, as they were already doing shows and visiting celebrities all through their stay in Lagos, but as we know this amazing journey of enlightening the minds of these young ones from the Niger-Delta just began. Although we had to leave Lagos on the 27th of February 2018, to go back to Port Harcourt, we shall in all honesty do this over again. Giving those who haven’t had the opportunity to experience these kinds of visits to the Home of entertainment and the City of Excellence in the media industry (Lagos), IHouse management would keep doing this from now onward, until these super talented young ones get heard from all over the world. It’s a proof that there are immense talents in the Niger/Delta, I will keep doing this to make young people happy because the joy I saw in the faces of these young superstars, gave me feelings I can’t describe and in all honesty I discovered that this is another way I can contribute to keeping young people off the streets and off negative social vices. Honestly, I felt like Oprah Winfrey when we came back to Port Harcourt and I went dropping each person at their homes, the hugs from their families brought me to tears, which were filled with joy and fulfillment to see that I was able to put a smile in the faces of others

I give God all the praises for making this 2weeks possible; I specially thank my wonderful husband who is always there, encouraging me with my passion. Lagos we came, we saw and for real, we wouldn’t be saying all of these if we didn’t conquer.
And I must say here to the @ihouse_hq, that you all have been giving a new form of opportunities, the kind you’ve always longed for and dreamt of, now it’s your turn to run with all the exposures/opportunities you got in Lagos. I have always encouraged you all to put more energy in your talents and also while focusing on your career, it’s necessary that your focuses on your studies be not dissuaded. Remember my words always. “Your talents will put food on your table”.

Finally, we as individuals and citizens must not wait for government for everything, that’s where Lagos entertainers are different from us in the Niger/Delta. The Do It Yourself (DIY) attitude you got in Lagos, it would be nice to please put them in good use now.
Good luck and once again all praises are to God almighty for the open doors. The I-HOUSE LAGOS TOUR
